More and more companies are showing up in the marketplace with coral calcium. The information from many of these companies is plying on the fact that many people do not understand the truth about coral calcium. Many statements are misleading and many more are outright false. This article is designed to help you understand the options available and the associated values with these options. All “coral calcium” products are not the same because they are different grades depending on where the material is gathered. All coral calcium may be labeled coral calcium, but the following will help you understand the values to attach to the various types.
What is “Mountain Grade” or “Land Grade” Coral?
A limestone mining company is the “land coral” company in Okinawa, Japan. This mining company division was formed with the purpose of finding use for the rubble that is left over in the mining of limestone. The product of this land coral company is petrified coral rock which is less than half the price value of Marine Grade coral which is used in Sango Mineral Powder (MSP). It does have a higher calcium content, but is much lower in the minerals which are so very important to the efficacy of this product. Minerals play key roles in metabolic processes of structural roles for skin, hair, bones, and cartilage. As long ago as 1936, the U. S. Congress stated much of the agricultural land in the U. S. was deficient in minerals. To compare the mineral rich coral grains from the ocean’s bed to “land coral” from “mountain rocks” is absurd. If all you want is high calcium content, you can take their limestone carbonate. There may be no such thing as bad minerals, but for your best state of health, to incur the highest curative effects and to get the maximum benefit, you might ask yourself: “Would I rather take a certified food supplement or the refuse from a limestone mine”? This is obviously the lowest value. The label on the finished product will be high in calcium, low in minerals, and the ratio of elemental Calcium to elemental Magnesium will not be balanced as in the highest grade. If the product you buy does not say “Marine Grade”, you may be sure it is not “Marine Grade”!
What is “Beach Grade” Coral?
Beach Grade refers to the coral calcium grains that have washed up on shore over eons of time. Layer after layer has been baked in the sun and weathered by the elements year after year. Man-made pollutants and acid rain have also decimated and contaminated this supply. This “Beach Grade” coral maintains a high amount of calcium, however, much of the precious sea minerals have been lost. This grade coral is commonly used in “sachets” or tea bags. This is a good product for changing water pH, but does very little to replenish your body’s mineral profile or to handle your calcium requirements. The label on the finished product will be high in calcium, low in minerals, and the ratio of elemental Calcium to elemental Magnesium will not be balanced as in the highest grade. Attempts to balance through addition of magnesium will further throw off the elemental balance.
What is “Marine Grade” Coral Calcium?
“Marine Grade” coral calcium is the natural coral grains that have accumulated in the Okinawa tidal basin over the millennia. These accumulate via the natural sloughing off from coral reefs over many years. There is virtually no severe wave action in the tidal basin to damage the unique dynamics of the eco system. There is a huge supply of these mineral rich grains to be harvested. Coral calcium is composed primarily of the shells and skeletons of reef-building coral and microscopic sea life such as star sand that inhabit the area. To form their shells and skeletons, these organisms ingest minerals (mainly calcium and magnesium, as well as over seventy other minerals, thus becoming 100% bio-available) from the ocean. As a result, the grains are mainly calcium, but they are also abundant in many sea minerals important to maintain good health.
What is the best source of Coral Calcium?
“SMP” or the “Sango Mineral Powder” is the Coral Calcium of choice. In the Okinawa basin there are pockets of much older coral grains. These pockets are referred to as SMP. These mineral rich grains have the natural 2:1 ratio of elemental calcium to elemental magnesium. Although the calcium content is less than any other coral product (23:11) its mineral content dwarfs them all, and the utilizable elemental calcium/magnesium ratio is perfectly balanced. The usable ratio is more important than higher amounts of unusable calcium.
Which grade is the highest quality?
There has been much said by different companies claiming product superiority. Some claim their product is better because you mix it with water, some because it has crystallization, and other’s because they have someone’s name on their label. While all these products can help replenish our mineral profile and balance pH, the recognized indicator of quality is the product with the highest amount of natural magnesium and sea minerals. SMP the clear winner in this regard. For the maximum benefit to your body, choose the coral calcium product that gives you the best mineral rich formula available, Sango Mineral Powder (SMP). The second best choice would be Coral Calcium Powder (CCP), which contains more of the sea mineral than land grade. SMP and CCP marine grade are both 100% absorbable forms of marine grade coral calcium. Marine grade coral calcium is clearly superior to land, mountain or beach grade coral. SMP Marine grade is clearly superior to CCP Marine grade. Examine labels closely! We are proud to be able to supply you with the highest grade of Marine Coral on the market with Ultra Coral Calcium Complex™ by Vitasource.
Marine Grade Coral Calcium is collected with ecological safety
The natural coral grains used in Ultra Coral Calcium Complex™ by Vitasource are harvested under the strict control of the Japanese government. The planning, the surveys, and finely the harvesting are done in concert with the Okinawa government. First an area is designated for exploration, then a survey team is dispatched to take samples. The samples are then analyzed for mineral content. If they meet the specification for “Coral Calcium Powder” or “CCP” (about 32:4 ratio of calcium to magnesium), they are then utilized for CCP. Over ninety percent of the Okinawa basin have this grade. When they find the pockets of older and richer minerals, with the specification for “Sango Mineral Powder or “SMP”: (about 24:12) calcium to magnesium), they will narrow the harvest area and concentrate on collecting these precious grains. In accordance with the Washington Treaty (a law governing the protection of the living coral reefs), living coral are not harmed in the gathering of these grains. Reports to the contrary are baseless and are made for the most part, by people with a vested interest in confusing the issue. VITASOURCE’S Ultra Coral Calcium Complex™ is SMP Marine grade coral calcium from Okinawa, Japan, and is from the purist and most mineral rich coral deposits in the world.
